Many products begin far from the UK. Fairtrade helps people think about the farmers, workers and communities behind those products.
About the local community
Fairtrade Wimborne & Colehill is a local community initiative, not a shop or commercial chain. Its purpose is to help people find, understand and support Fairtrade choices across the area.
The group connects the wider Fairtrade movement with local action. That means maintaining public information, encouraging businesses and community settings to offer Fairtrade products, supporting education and helping people understand why the Fairtrade Mark matters.
Wimborne achieved Fairtrade Town status in 2006. Colehill later joined the campaign, creating a shared community effort across Wimborne and Colehill. The current focus is practical visibility: making Fairtrade easy to recognise in the places people already shop, meet, learn and work.
To make Fairtrade easier to find locally, easier to explain clearly and easier for organisations to support.
How it works
Fairtrade is global, but participation happens locally through the products people buy and the conversations people have.
Many products begin far from the UK. Fairtrade helps people think about the farmers, workers and communities behind those products.
The mark gives residents and visitors a recognisable way to identify certified Fairtrade options.
Listings, displays and local campaigns help people see which businesses and community settings are taking part.
The local directory becomes stronger as more organisations are added and existing information stays accurate.
The site should serve people who want a quick answer and people who want to go deeper.
